I love a beautiful smokey eye but I must admit, it kinda scares me.

Yes, scary, because if I would try doing it, it would be scary, smudgy and all over the place.

That's why I usually stick with something that I can do well and that doesn't take a trillion years, which is a simple cat eye.

So, when I came across the step-by-step picture tutorial above (I couldn't find the source of it, so if you know who it's from, please let me know, so I can credit them!), I got really excited and had to share it with you right away.

And you know what, I don't think I am scared of a smokey eye anymore and will give it a try :)

What is your go-to makeup routine and what would you like to try but are afraid of?

Love, Magic and Pillowfights,
Erika

I love smoky eyes, too! But I can totally relate to what you wrote about them – kinda scary! :-)

But you know, I think partly it is probably not that we are so awefully bad at “making” smoky eyes! I think it is at least in part that even if we get that look it just feels awkward. At least for me! Because it is somehow different if you see that look in a glossy magazine or on a beauty photo – or you see it on you. At least that is true for me. If I look in the mirror I think – wow, that looks totally scary and I would not want to walk around with it. But when someone takes a photo of me it actually looks quite good!

But I totally like your photo tutorial and will give it a try!
Right now I rarely use eye make-up at all. I just use it for (very) special occasions … so I am out of practise. :-)
My “go-to” – actually no idea if it has a name. I guess it is kinda like smoky eyes just VERY toned down. It is nice to have a go-to, which you kinda know works for you. But it also gets kinda boring … so thanks for the reminder to experiment a bit! :-)

My go-to makeup routine is a bit pathetic… Mascara and rouge. Maybe eyeliner every once in a while.

Everything else seems daunting to me, there are so many I would love to try but I’m always afraid if it’s too dressy, to risque, to dark, you know? That should be my goal from now on though, every time I go out, I try a new style of makeup. Like an early new years resolution!
