2016 - probably the worst and best year so far. It started with my heart being shattered into a million pieces and all year I was slowly learning to love myself back together.
I also met the most wonderful souls, found my new home in Portland and traveled across the ocean and back, my tender heart always with me.
My first Instagram post of 2016 had this caption by Rainer Maria Rilke from Letters to a Young Poet which is still relevant:
“Be patient toward all that is unsolved in your heart and try to love the questions themselves, like locked rooms and like books that are now written in a very foreign tongue. Do not now seek the answers, which cannot be given you because you would not be able to live them. And the point is, to live everything. Live the questions now. Perhaps you will then gradually, without noticing it, live along some distant day into the answer.”
In January/February I shot a self portrait series called Me Project. I shot the images mostly right after I had cried for hours, it was very healing and suggest it to anyone that is going through a hard time. I never published the images but will post them on the blog sometime soon. Here is one of them:
I did 40 photoshoots for clients and magazines. Here are my top ten (in no particular order):
I started using more film and took my camera on all my road trips. In 2016 I went to Oregon several times before I finally moved to Portland in September. I also went to Las Vegas, Iceland, NYC, Germany and Miami. Here are some images:
I did a lot of art, if you follow me on Instagram you might have seen my 100 day project from Jul 9th - Oct 16th which was inspired by my good friend Camilla who yelled at me after seeing my sketch books because I never shared it with anyone.
Here are my top 10 (in no particular order):
That was a short summary of my 2016.
How was your 2016? What were your highlights and learning lessons?
